Short Story
A few days ago I was browsing my Facebook timeline when out of no where this video popped up and started playing. That day wasn’t a particularly good day for me so I was like what the heck I might as well watch it. This video showed 4 people put into the same situation. There were two females, 1 male, and 1 homeless guy. The situation was that this guy left his car on side of the street without paying the meter. They were all being recorded but at different times. The two girls tried to track the guy down but he didn’t hear them so they just left and didn’t really care what happened to his car. The one man noticed that he didn’t put anything but he was too busy talking on his cellphone that he didn’t care enough to even try to tell the man or put change in the meter. When it came to the homeless man he tried to tell the guy about putting the change in the meter but the guy had already walked away. So, the homeless man had a sign up that said “Anything will help”. All the change that he collected that day he unselfishly put change in the meter for the man until he came back. He did it for about 3 hours. Finally, the man came back and said I have been behind the building watching you put change in the meter. I want to say thank you because you a literally giving all the money you have to save my car from being towed away. In return for the unselfish gesture, the man gave the homeless man three hundred dollars. The homeless man was in tears because he finally had enough money to eat but he was so happy that for his act of kindness he was rewarded and it showed him that there are still some good people out here in todays society. This video instantly brightened my day because we don’t know how blessed we are until we are in the homeless man’s situation and don’t even have enough money to eat. It made me so happy to see the caring and kindness of the homeless man as well as the guy that was recording the whole time. It was truly a blessing and it made me happy. It is not very hard to be happy but we tend to focus on all the things that makes us unhappy instead of the things that do. I thank God everyday for his continuous blessing but always I pray that he blesses the less fortunate guy like the man in the video. The reason I chose this story is because I have a soft spot in my heart for homeless people. One day when I have the funds financially I want to help them!
